Do’s & Don’ts of Pre and Post COVID Infection

The fear of the current pandemic has been spread all around, everybody is rushing towards the hospital to save their loved ones. But, we all know that still there’s no cure or treatment available. So, what the doctors in the hospital are doing?

Doctors are actively trying to treat the symptoms like fever, cough, and cold. If someone’s oxygen level is low, doctors try to keep them on a small mask, big mask, or ventilator according to the need of the patient. Though, they are not the exact treatment for COVID. They’re providing steroids which help the patient’s body to form antibiotic which helps in fighting the infection.

So what we can do?

We need to fight COVID based on the below 3 scenarios:

  1. How to protect yourself if you’re not affected by Corona Virus?
  2. What steps to take when you’re COVID Positive?
  3. What steps to take after recovering from COVID?

1. How to protect yourself if you’re not affected by Corona Virus?

Basic things like masking, hand wash, and social distancing which you’re following from the previous year, and wearing a double mask when going out in the congested areas. Apart from these basic precautions, there are more things you can do:

  1. Try to take steam every day for at least 1 time (preferably in the morning)
  2. Try gargling by using warm water by mixing 1 teaspoon turmeric and salt (preferably in the morning and before sleeping)
  3. Grind around 8-10 Almonds, 3-4 walnuts, 1-2 Anjeer, 4-5 Currant (munakka – overnight soaked), and Turmeric in Grinder and mix them with warm milk and drink it with your nutritive breakfast in the morning.
  4. Try to increase your Fruit intake around 1-2 times a day. Increase Liquid intake like buttermilk, warm tea, green tea, or Aloe Vera + Gooseberry (Amla).
  5. Eat food fresh (within 45 minutes of cooking)
  6. Drink decoction (kaada) by mixing Giloy, Ashwagandha, Cinnamon (Daal Cheeni), Kaali Mirch, Ginger, and fresh Turmeric 1 time every day.
  7. Try to take good sleep around 6-8 hours.
  8. Take 1 Zn-rich multi-vitamin and 2-3 Vitamin-C every day.
  9. Additionally, take Ayurvedic Supplements like Giloy Vati, Ashwashila, Tulsi (drop, leaf, tab), Gooseberry (Amla), and Spirulina (helps in balancing protein in the body) every day.
  10. Do Pranayam, Kapal Bharti, Surya Namaskar, Udgeeth Pranayama, and more simple exercises (Sukshma Vyayam) every day.

2. What steps to take when you’re COVID Positive?

You’ve followed everything, but one day you started feeling a sore throat and after some time body ache started and then fever happened.

In this situation, don’t wait for more symptoms to appear or for test reports. The first thing you should do is, discuss your symptoms with your family doctor and take medicines according to the prescription given by your doctor and isolate yourself at home. With this, try to follow this routine –

Early Morning

  • Gargle with hot water mixed with Turmeric and salt
  • take steam

After it

  • Drink decoction (kaada) by mixing Giloy, Ashwagandha, Cinnamon (Daal Cheeni), Kaali Mirch, Ginger, and fresh Turmeric 1 time every day.

After half an hour

  • Nutritious breakfast – Daliya/Vegetable Idli/ Poha / Upma / Veg Oats etc.

After 1 hour

  • Take Steam

After 1 hour

  • Fruits/Tea/Coffee/Green Tea/Coconut water/Hot milk (Turmeric)

After 1 hour (Lunch)

  • Vegetables + Daal (pulses) + Chappati + Salad (tossed) /Veg Daliya/Khichdi etc

After 1 hour

  • Gargle

After 1 hour (Evening)

  • Tea/Roasted Chana/Roasted Peanut/Roasted Makhana/Soup/Fruits

After 2 hours (Dinner)

  • Vegetable + Daal + Chappati/ Veg Daliya /Veg Khichdi/Veg Oats/Moong Daal/Besal Chila/Daliya

After 2 hours

  • 1 cup milk with Turmeric + Tulsi + Ashwagandha (1 pinch)

Before Sleep

  • Gargle with Betadine hot water and take steam

And keep taking medicines together. Get tested based on your doctor’s advice, do breathing exercises at least 3 times every day and take full rest and sleep.

By following this routine in your day-to-day life, you’ll certainly start recovering in under 5 days. Just stay isolated so you can break the Chain of COVID. When isolated you can read your favorite literature, or watch movies that you won’t be able to see because of your busyness. That’s how you can give yourself entertainment with relaxation which will help you in recovering faster.

3. What steps to take after recovering from COVID?

After coming out of your room from 14 days of isolation, the first thing you should do is to discard your toothbrush and tongue cleaner and buy a new one. Still, you need to take steam and gargle 1-2 times a day, every day.

Probably, you’re feeling weak, constipated, or got loose motions, headache, body ache due to medicine’s side-effect. But don’t worry, you’ve won a big fight and these are some small scratches you got which you can treat through a little effort.

And now the diet Post COVID will be a bit different.

Early Morning

  • Gargle with salt and hot water.

Just After Gargle

  • Take steam-via nose and throat.

After half an hour

  • Boil 1L water + Arogya Kadha + Kachhi Haldi + Ginger + Gur (Jaggery)
  • Also, infuse green tea drink

After 1 hour

1L hot milk + Haldi/tea + 5-6 almonds + 3 walnuts seeds (overnight soaked). Also take with or 2 hours after breakfast.

Breakfast

  • Veg Daliya/Milk Daliya /Stuff Chapatti + Veg/Veg besan or moong dal cheela / oats uthappam/veg suji upma / veg fried idli/ veg appam / poha /2-3 eggs with bread etc.

After 2 hours

  • Tea / Coffee / Hot Milk / Giloy juice + Aloe Vera / Warm Lemon Water / Coconut Water

After 1 hour

  • Eat fruits (avoid sour fruits)

Lunch

  • Salad (tossed) +veg + pulses + 1-2 roti + Rice/Veg Daliya /Dal + Rice / Khichadi /Idli + sambar etc.

Just after lunch

  • Gargle with hot water and salt
  • Take steam
  • Rest

After 2-2:30 Hours

  • Green Tea/Tea/Coffee/Hot milk/Coconut Water etc with light snacks/Roasted channa/Diet Mixture/Biscuits/Paneer/Sprouts/Chaat/Roasted makhana with salt/Poha/1 boiled egg etc.

After 1 hour

  • Soup (veg/chicken/dal)

After 1 hour (Dinner)

  • Veg + Dal + Chapati /Daliya / Khichdi /dal Cheela/veg
  • Vermicelli/100gm chicken/100gm fish/2 eggs etc

After 2 hours

  • Hot milk/Green Tea/Kadha etc.

Before sleep

  • Gargle with Betadine and hot water
  • Tongue Cleaning
  • Take Steam.

Some Important Points

  • Drink lots of water. If feeling low or vomit sensation, add Electrol with water.
  • Gargle by adding Salt/Betadine/Haldi in hot water
  • Add Karbol capsule/eucalyptus drops/camphor in the steamer.
  • Consume food within 45 minutes of cooking.
  • Take nonveg without spices and oil, only add a little amount of homemade desi ghee/butter.
  • Add Kaada powder in green tea.

 

Now you’ve to increase your liquid intake of water/ORS/Coconut Water/Soups/Green Tea/Tea/Coffee etc.

Don’t stop Yoga and Breathing Exercises. And with that, start taking high-protein diets and don’t stop eating Chapatis due to some rumors, as Chapatis are a great source of Carbohydrates which will give you energy and Protein will heal your body internally. Just don’t depend on Protein solely, carbohydrates Intake is also important.

And maybe your doctor had prescribed anticoagulants which you should continue taking. Otherwise, after full recovery, you can again get into a severe problem.

So, by ending this blog here, I just want to mention that in this situation, the treatment is important, and apart from treatment your courage, patience, positivity, and faith in your God and yourself has more importance which works like a miracle every time. This is a profound truth.
